Review Apple iPod nano 16 GB Pink (5th Generation)


I am really impressed with this new 5th generation iPod Nano. I find that the FM radio has great reception and is easy to use, unlike the Apple dongle radio attachment I use on my previous generation Nano. The radio software integration is nicely done and very simple to use, set favorite stations and pause as necessary to talk on the phone and then quickly resume where the music or talk show left off for up to 15 minutes.

The pedometer function (Fitness) is interesting and can be used without any external attachments. It only counts steps and not distance so I assume that I will need to multiply the counted steps by stride length to come up with distance walked. Ironically, it does have you put in your weight but I'm not certain how this is used.

The playback of pre-recorded movie video is clear and the sound is very good as with earlier iPods. The video recording is point and shoot simple to use but not of very high quality - about what you would expect from a cell phone- but I really don't plan on using this as a video camera. Would have been nice if Apple had included a still camera as well but I suspect the quality would not be acceptable without adding more componentry requiring more space and cost. I did note that this iPod has a speaker built in (which I assume is the microphone as well) but its sound quality is not good.

The iPod Nano 5th Generation is the best yet. I just received mine yesterday directly from the Apple online store and have been enjoying the features. I notice that the audio playback has improved alot over the previous generations I could hear hissing in the third generation and didn't really remember how if sounded on the fourth generation because I didn't have it along time.

Review SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)


I bought this as a gift. It has been very easy for the recipient to use. Syncing with windows media player is a breeze. The ability to add files through the folders is also nice.

I choose the Sansa Fuze due to the amount of features, and they happen to come at a better price than the Ipod. FM radio is a great feature. You may have all the music you want, but sometimes it is nice to listen to the news or hear new music. And just in case you hear something you like, it can be recorded and played back on your fuze.

I bought it on the cheap (it's since dropped 40, still far and away cheaper than iPod). The only bad part is it doesn't sync to iTunes, which I have an account with an indie-music website that syncs fine. Its an mp3 player, read the other reviews, but this is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Great product,very easy to use.Drag & drop,scroll wheel easy & great to scroll thru artists fast although the first one I purchased had to be sent back scroll wheel was stuck.

To transfer music to the Fuze, I just connected it to the computer via the usb port, then I went to the Media Player library and on the top right side, clicked on "now playing list", selected "sync list" and then highlighted my entire library and dragged the songs onto the sync list. I then selected the "Sync" tab at the top of the screen and said to start the sync. It was that easy.

Physically, the new (64GB) Touch is identical to it's 2nd generation brethren. It's polished crome backplate is slightly curved, making it fit your palm perfectly. As before, the fact that it's made from polished chrome will guarantee that it attracts fingerprints and scratches almost magically. I'm no friend of any kind of protective covers, and my last (32GB) Touch had to live in my pocket with my keys, coins, and other stuff I threw in with it. After a year, the backplate did pick up a lot of scratches, and I expect that the 64GB to fare no better.

I bought the new iPod Shuffle as a replacement for my 2nd Gen Shuffle (which I loved) which died. I already have a iPhone which I use on a daily basis. The Shuffle is just for use in the gym and when out running.

I bought this ipod specifically for running, but after about 3 miles the controls start acting totally erratically, randomly and constantly switching between songs and playlists, or alternatively not playing any music but just talking at me with its annoying computer voice.

Summary:

-The advertised price for the Hi-MD blank disks is ok, around $7.
-Runs on AA battery.
-ATRACplus algorithm sound decent at 64kbps, comparable to MP3 at 128kbps in my opinion. There is also a 256kbps option which sounds very good, but files are pretty big for the Hi-MD capacity, makes it inconvenient.
-Price compares to that of the MiniIpod or some Flash MP3 players, however this is "supposed" (read below) to be upgradeable by buying more blank Hi-MDs
-You can run with it and get no skips.

The player increases the capacity of regular 5 hour Minidiscs to 13 hours! So you can more than double the capacity of your old dics.

Battery life is awesome. 30 hours or so with HD discs and 50 with older ones.

The player is very easy to use too. The home screen has all your icons for everything the player does and you just use your arrow buttons and enter button to access them.

First this MP3 player by Sony is the best one I've ever had. It's so easy to download music, videos, and pictures on it, that a child could do it. You plug the player into your computer and it automatically downloads the software you need to get started.

The sound quality is amazing with headphones on or off. And I love the fact that I can play the songs without the headphones since there are external speakers. And the external speakers are pretty loud for such a little device.

The battery life is amazing. 42 hours for listening to music or teachings.

Although the iPod is a fantastic little device with a large capacity, the software is not without its troubles. I downloaded the most current version of iTunes (verison 9) and immediately began importing my mp3 files from my hard drive. This process can take some time, but not much longer than any other media player.

First, the capacity of this iPod is simply unbeatable. I've yet to see another portable media player that can match the iPod Classic in capacity.

The second thing that I love about this iPod can be summed up in two words: it works. The 160GB iPod Classic that was introduced in 2007 was extremely buggy, had a non-responsive Clickwheel on many units, crashed frequently, and required a hit-and-miss firmware update to stop the hard drive from spinning even when the device was "off," which often lead to dead batteries.

Another thing that I really like about this iPod, and the iPod Classic in general, is it's ability to double as an external hard drive.

The original iPod's strength was the sheer brilliant ease of use - and the touch-based interface represented a mile-stone in improving on that. To date there simply is no better multimedia interface than that of the Touch/iPhone. It's natural after just a few seconds. It's drop-dead beautiful, with muted highlights, and cleverly accentuated by small (if flashy) animations that convey the different metaphors of the interface (e.g. the rubber-banded bouncing when you reach the end of a playlist).

The Touch has an ambient light sensor, so it can dim the screen when the surroundings are darker.
This time around, the screen's color temperature has remained unchanged (the 2G shifted all colors from a blueish to a more golden tinge). Movie playback is simply astonishing. The image is crisp, and the on-screen controls natural.

The front plate is made from one of the most impressive glass enhancements I've ever seen. After a year of heavy abuse, my old Touch's glass front has not a single scratch - not one. I don't know how Apple does it, but this is really impressive. Remember, I don't use any protective covers or films. The screen itself is brilliant, bright, and can easily be read outside, wich is a feat in itself.

The built-in wireless connectivity is really nice, with astonishingly well executed integration. The touch does all it's wireless networking over WiFi and Bluetooth. WiFi works really well (especially here in Switzerland where Hotspots are particularely dense), and Bluetooth integration (which I tried on the 3rd gen for the first time) is flawless.
